Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR)

On May 18-19, the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) held its 17th Annual Symposium in Dallas, TX, reuniting corporate executives whom interacted with a cross-section of U.S. Latino leaders, government officials and other Fortune 1000 corporate executives from throughout the nation. An integral component of the annual gathering is the HACR CEO Roundtable, since its inception in 2007, the HACR CEO Roundtable has provided a forum for the highest-ranking executives of HACR’s Corporate Member companies to discuss best practices related to inclusive employment and retention strategies, increasing Hispanic Market Consumer (HCM) outreach and brand loyalty, diversity in governance, and the increasing importance of Latinos to the nation’s economic growth.

Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI)

This year, the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) held its fifth annual CHLI Gala dinner and Leadership awards on May 13, 2009 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington D.C. Celebrating “Five Years of Advancing the Hispanic Community’s Diversity of Thought,” CHLI honored José María Aznar, executive president of the Foundation for Social Studies and Analysis (FAES) with the 2009 Leadership in International Relations Award. This award was established by CHLI to recognize leaders who work to deepen the relationship between U.S. Hispanics and the international community. CHLI also honored U.S. Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey with its CHLI 2009 Leadership in Public Service Award.
