During the Latina Entrepreneur Award Luncheon, Gloria Campos, anchor and reporter of WFAA Channel 8 served as mistress of ceremony, while special sponsor remarks were given by Leonard James III, U.S. Business Development manager at ExxonMobil Fuels Marketing. Attendees were eager and excited to have the Honorable Jovita Carranza, deputy administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration as the keynote speaker of the event. She spoke about her success story starting at a packing department at UPS, moving up until managing a large division for UPS and currently working at the White House! Also, the Latina Entrepreneur award recipient was Gina Puente, president of Puente-Brancato Enterprises. Her family business is an innovative concept of airport winery that has succeeded and survived in spite struggles and hurdles they went through after September 11. The evening concluded with giveaways, and prizes such as iPODs, free airline tickets to anywhere in the U.S., George Foreman Grill and much more! It was also great to see the amazing work created by such amazing committee of Latinas: Lupita Colmenero, publisher of El Hispano News, Veronica Torres, director of diversity and community relations at the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau, Carmen Garcia, director of community affairs at the State Fair of Texas, Cici Rojas, president of the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Nina Vaca, president of Pinnacle Technical Resources, Inc.
