American Women in Radio & Television (AWRT) 32nd Annual Gracie Award ® Winners

On June 18, the American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) announced the 2007 winners of the annual Gracie Awards ®, recognizing exemplary programming created for women, by women and about women within the media industry. This year’s national winners, include NBC/30 Rock’s Tina Fey, CNN’s Anchor Soledad O’Brien, CBS’ correspondent, Kimberly Dozier, XM Radio’s Oprah & Friends Jean Chatzky Show, and many more. The Gracies are presented by the Foundation of AWRT, the philanthropic arm of AWRT that supports educational programs, charitable activities, public service campaigns, and scholarships to benefit the public, the electronic media, and allied fields.

On June 25 - 28, WBENC held the 8th annual national conference and business fair, one of the largest in the nation for women’s business enterprises in Los Angeles, California. The event brought together America’s senior corporate executives, supplier diversity and procurement professionals face-to-face with America’s women-owned business suppliers. This year’s theme was “Women in Business: Launching a New Decade.”

The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) held its 78th annual LULAC National Convention and Exposition, Empowering Latinos: Building Prosperity through Partnerships from July 9-July 14 at the Historic Navy Pier in Chicago. The event drew over 15,000 participants including top government, business, and community leaders for a week filled with celebrity speakers, important seminars and entertainment.

This year, TAMACC held its 32nd annual Convention and Business Expo July 25-28 in San Antonio, TX. The event promoted business leadership, creating economic opportunities and provided legislative advocacy for the Hispanic Business Community. This year’s convention theme was “El Paseo de Negocios-The Journey of Hispanic Business.”

On June 13-16, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) held its 25th Anniversary Convention and Media Career Expo in San Jose, California. This year’s theme was “NAHJ@25: Building Today, Shaping Tomorrow,” More than 2,000 journalists gather at one of the industry’s leading journalism event.
