Dilys
Tosteson García
Dilys Tosteson García was
recently named president and CEO
of La Agencia de Orci &
Associados, one of the largest
independently-owned Hispanic
advertising and marketing
agencies in the country. As such,
she is responsible for
overseeing day-to-day operations,
including client services,
account planning, creative
services and new business
services.

Nina Perales
In June, The Mexican American
Legal Defense and Educational
Fund (MALDEF) won a Supreme
Court ruling in favor of Latino
voting rights in Texas. “The
decision is an important one in
the area of redistricting; the
Supreme Court has signaled that
states must offer all voters the
chance to participate in
elections and cast a meaningful
vote, regardless of race,” said
Nina Perales, MALDEF’s counsel
and one of the two attorneys
arguing the case.

Sandra
Madrid
In March, Sandra Madrid was elected
as the first Hispanic women to serve
as board chair for United Way King
County . She has served on the Board
of Directors for nine years and has
held a variety of positions.
Currently Madrid serves as chair of
the Board of Directors of the
National Hispana Leadership
Institute and is a member of the
National Board of Directors of the
Girl Scouts of the USA.
As board chair, Madrid will support
the mission of the largest United
Campaign in the country. “I’m more
excited than ever to tap individual
strengths and expertise at our
disposal to help our neighbors
overcome huge challenges in our
society,” said Madrid. “I’m
extremely committed to United Way’s
vision to end homelessness and help
kids succeed in school. I’m also
looking forward to making measurable
progress on other key issues such as
basic education and healthcare for
all residents.”
In 2006, Madrid received the King
County Bar Foundation Champion of
Diversity Award. Her many other
honors include the Spirit of
Excellence Award from the American
Bar Association Commission for
Minorities in the Profession and the
Leadership Tomorrow Edward E.
Carlson Award. |

Liliana
Salas-Grip
In July, Liliana Salas-Grip was
named senior vice president,
Hispanic marketing executive at
Compass Bank. Salas-Grip, who
previously served as manager of
National Alliances for Diverse
Growth Segments, will be responsible
for building relationships with the
Hispanic community and developing
programs to better serve Hispanic
clients.
Salas-Grip serves on the Board of
Directors for the National Hispana
Leadership Institute (NHLI) in
Washington D.C., the Northwest
School for Hearing-Impaired Children
in Seattle, Washington and PROFMEX,
the Consortium for Research on
Mexico.
“We are fortunate to have someone of
Liliana’s experience leading our
Hispanic operations,” says Mark
Gibson, executive vice president,
director of retail marketing. “Not
only is she knowledgeable when it
comes to the needs of the Hispanic
segment, but she is also well-respected
by the community and business
leaders.” |

Spotlight:
Victoria Recaño
Victoria Recaño, a two-time Emmy
Award winner, is a one-woman United
Nations! Born in St. Louis,
Missouri, to a father with Filipino,
Spanish and Latin roots and a German-Hungarian
mother, Recaño is the oldest of four
children.
Recaño graduated from Loyola
University of Chicago with a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass
Communications with a focus on
journalism, TV, film and radio.
While attending college she worked
as an anchor for ZDTV News. In her
two years with the station, Recaño
kept a long list of public figures
she interviewed, such as Michael
Dell (Dell Computers), Bill Gates
(Microsoft), and Scott McNeely (Sun
Microsystems) to name just a few.
Recaño has also worked as an anchor
and reporter for KNTV, the NBC
affiliate in San Francisco. Recaño
won her two Emmys after hosting “The
Disney Afternoon Show.” In 2002,
Recaño joined “Inside Edition” as a
correspondent alongside Lara Spencer,
where she continued interviewing
celebrities such as Martha Stewart
and former senator John Kerry.
Today, Recaño is a correspondent
alongside Pat O’ Brien on “The
Insider.” As a reporter for the
newsmagazine show, she travels
around the world covering celebrity
news and human interest stories from
an inside perspective. |
