Everyday Blessings
Deadlines…reports…conference calls…client lunch
meetings...performance reviews…soccer practice...dance
class…parent-teacher conferences. Overbooked, tired,
and overscheduled with the demands and hustle of our
daily routines, one rarely takes time to acknowledge
the blessings granted every day.

Faith is amazing. Ask for your heart’s
desire, have patience, and you will see the
amazing transformation in your life. I am
living proof. During a recent look back into
my journal, I noticed an entry I made in
2002. I had two desires: one was to lose
weight and the other was to go back to
school for my MBA (Master of Business
Administration). As of today, I have lost
weight, and plan to graduate from Texas
Christian University (TCU) with an Executive
MBA in May 2006.
So how did it happen? I prayed, verbally
expressed the desire of my heart, and
believed. Months later, I received an
unexpected call from TCU advising me that my
name had been given to them and they wanted
to talk to me about a partial scholarship. I
could not believe what I was hearing!
Someone should have told me to fasten my
seatbelt, because I was about to embark on
the most amazing ride of my life. I learned
so much about business management skills and
leadership, however I also learned about
myself and how to mold and shape my
abilities. |

I don’t want to paint a perfect picture of a life
without trials or tribulations. Nobody is exempt
from pain. Good and bad exist and it is our duty to
stay the course. In my case, the closer I am to my
faith, the more it seemed that evil was present in
my life.
I learned to stay true to my beliefs. Unless you
experience the bad you will not appreciate the good
and therefore recognize the blessings you receive. I
take great pride in being a woman of faith, and I
ask to be used as an instrument and testament of my
faith. I enjoy public speaking, and take the time in
reflection each time before I speak, asking that my
faith guide my words.
My journey is affirmed when I receive feedback,
accolades, input and confirmation of how I may have
touched another with what I said. The truth is that
oftentimes, I don’t even remember what I said. I
just speak from the heart.
About a year ago in dealing with life I developed a
yearning to learn more and grow closer to my faith.
I visited an amazing spiritual study group and the
ladies in it have been a tremendous blessing and
support to me. If you are alone and you do not have
a group, I encourage you to seek one. It is amazing
to see the vitality and commitment that is present
and the miracles that happen when you have faith and
honor your creator. |
